The Stelvio National Park is the largest among the oldest Italian parks and still is the most extended on the Alpine ridge. It stretches on the heart of the Central Alps and comprehends characteristics valleys shaped by ices and melt waters flowing downhill from the imposing massif of the Ortles-Cevedale group. Majestic ridges, luxuriant forests, green prairies at high altitudes crossed by foaming streams springing from perennial glaciers form the landscape of the park.
Many rare animal and plant species live in wide ecosystems present in territory varying thanks to remarkable differences in height. The landscape is dotted by villages, farmsteads, scattered on the bottom of the valleys, charming works of rural and sacred architecture, balanced with the environment and worth their discovery.
