La Morra and its historical centre, situated upon one of the many hills that
stipple the Langhe, boast a magnificent panoramic position. Its urbanistic plant substantially preserves a medieval, fan-shaped structure. The first settlements were probably of ancient origin and the tradition speaks about an important development in the Roman period.The ancient heart of La Morra is on the top of the hill, where once stood a castle. Today the building is completely destroyed and the last trace of it is the basement of the Town-Hall Tower, re-built in its present from in 1720. On the same public square stand two religious buildings. Besides some late medieval and eighteenth-century private buildings, another sight of remarkable interest are the rests of the bastions of the medieval town walls, which used to protect the castle and, in a certain way, have conditioned for centuries the urbanistic development of the village.
